Window and Door Export Packing: What to Confirm
Agree how the selected products will be protected, identified, handled and received before confirming the shipping scope. The package list should connect shipment marks and quantities to the agreed opening schedule. Packing and delivery arrangements depend on the products, route, destination and expressly agreed responsibilities.
Confirm protection for the actual goods
Describe the product configuration, finish and any separately packed items. Discuss protection of glass, surfaces, corners, hardware and moving parts, together with the supports and handling method needed for the proposed package. Do not infer a tested packing specification from a reference image.
Product & surface
Identify the assemblies and loose components, finish, vulnerable edges and protection requirements.
Package & support
Confirm the package type, supports, movement restraints, lifting or handling points and any stated stacking restrictions.
Route & destination
Discuss transport mode, transshipment, expected handling, destination restrictions and required packing or marking documentation.
Keep packages traceable to the schedule
A packing list commonly records package types, marks, quantities, dimensions and weights. Agree how those records will be connected to product and opening IDs, including loose hardware or components. An opening ID, a product model and a package number have different purposes and should not be confused.
| Record | Confirm before shipment |
|---|---|
| Opening / product schedule | Approved IDs, models, configuration, quantities and drawing revision |
| Package marks | Package number and the agreed reference back to the schedule |
| Packing list | Package type, content quantities, dimensions and weights as applicable |
| Shipment documents | The required invoice, transport and destination-specific documents, with the responsible party identified |
Write down transport and arrival responsibilities
Confirm the named destination and agreed trade or transport scope in the commercial documents. Ask who arranges carriage, insurance where required, clearance, charges, unloading and site delivery. Destination requirements should be checked with the appropriate qualified party; generic export guidance does not replace those checks.
Before dispatch
Agree which packing records or permitted photos are required, who checks them and how discrepancies are handled.
At receipt
Compare package marks and quantities with the documents, record apparent package condition and follow the agreed reporting procedure.
After receipt
Confirm safe handling, storage and installation instructions relevant to the selected goods and site. Clarify responsibility for these activities.
Bring packing into the project brief
Use the same opening schedule and revision when discussing configuration, packing and the quotation. Where the final destination or shipment method is undecided, mark it as a pending item rather than treating freight or packing as included.
Start with your requirements.
Provide the product list, intended destination and any handling restrictions. Ask for the packing and transport scope to be stated in the quotation rather than assumed from a catalog image.
Discuss packing & delivery scopeThis checklist identifies matters to confirm for the selected goods and route. The packing method, documents and delivery responsibilities must be agreed for the specific shipment.
